Touring Oregon Day 04

Thursday, July 8, 2021

We awake this morning and have breakfast at another local restaurant and hit the road. We haven’t driven 5 miles and we come along Oregon Dunes. So we find parking and hit the trail!

The views are spectacular and we explore the dunes for a while.

We find the ‘John Dellenback Trail’ and take the relatively easy hike. The soft sand is challenging to walk on at times. We watch as the winds blow the sand on the ever changing Dunes!

Driving on, we cross a bridge onto Bolon Island and take a break for a few photos. Traveling on we soon come to Haceta Head Lighthouse and stop to visit.

It doesn’t take long continuing up the coast to find ‘Devils Churn where the ocean is restless. Then it is on to Yaquina Head Lighthouse.

Moving on again, we find the “Sea Lion Caves” and go in for a visit where we travel down an elevator into the caves for an interesting view of the Sea Lions. Smelly, but interesting!

More views of Haceta Head Lighthouse and a fun Park Ranger poses for me!

Some views of the beach where vultures were sunning themselves, more bridges and Yaquina Head again.

We stop for the night in Newport, Oregon and try to find dinner, only to find that most restaurants are booked up and need reservations! Who’d a thunk? But we finally find a restaurant on the water named “Local Ocean” where we are seated overlooking the cooks! Not only is the view entertaining, but the food was fabulous! Go Enrique! You entertained us all including our new friend Leanne sitting next to us!

After dinner, we took a walk along the docks for some fun ‘reflection’ photos!

We spent the night in a Comfort Inn.
