Didn’t take any photos on the first day. Made it to Santa Rosa and got a room for the night. In the morning, we have a leisurely breakfast and drive to the coast where we visit Ten Mile Dunes State Park at Seaside Beach.
We continue up the coast through Willets where the Redwoods basically start. Shortly after, we arrive at Glass Beach, once the trash dump for Fort Bragg. Over the last 60 years, the ocean surf has reduced the dump to bits of polished glass. It is requested that if you visit here, you don’t take souvenirs.
We find it amazing that a trash dump has metamorphized into a thing of beauty!
We spend a couple hours walking around and checking out the beach!
Moving on, we travel up the coast.
We encounter a traffic jam shortly before the Oregon Border. Turns out there is a landslide that took out a portion of PCH. They only let vehicles through twice each day. Luckily for us, we only have to cue up for about an hour before they start letting cars through. We finally drive through and marvel at the road damage. Sorry we didn’t get photos!
